Yay! Finally. I found the Mantis. And to tell you the truth it scared the hell out of me at first. I was stalking Monarch butterfly - surprised that it's still around at this time of year - hoping to get a shot of it sitting on Goldenrod. I kept my eye on it while slowly walking in its wake when suddenly something long and skinny flew past my face and landed on the ground few feet away. I thought it was a giant grasshopper so I went to check it out. To my delight it was a Chinese Mantis. I would be a fool to let this kind of opportunity to escape, even for the most beautiful butterfly, so I aimed my camera at the critter and started shooting. After two or three shots the darn Mantis turned its head in my direction, looked me in the eye, and...
No, it didn't say "Yes, dear?" but it looked like it could.
Well that's pretty good! I just haven't been going outside enough I guess. Must get out and take more photos... It's all snowy still though; that's my excuse for now.
I like mantises soooooooo much!!!
YEAS DEAR
